Stephen Counseling Services provides structured DOT Substance Abuse Professional evaluations and clear guidance through the federally required return-to-duty process.
What to Expect
Your SAP process begins with an initial evaluation. From there, you’ll receive clear recommendations and next steps based on DOT requirements.
After you complete the required recommendations, we’ll schedule a follow-up evaluation to determine whether you’re eligible to move forward in the Return-to-Duty process.
The Process Made Clear
Initial Evaluation
A confidential SAP evaluation to review the DOT violation, relevant substance-use history, current circumstances, and any other information needed to make an appropriate recommendation.
Education/ Treatment
Based on the evaluation, you will receive a recommendation for the education and/or treatment required to continue the return-to-duty process.
Follow-Up Evaluation
After completing the recommended services, you will return for a follow-up evaluation to determine whether you have successfully complied with the SAP recommendations.
Return-to-Duty
Required reports are completed and provided to the appropriate employer or designated representative.
Please note: The employer is responsible for arranging the return-to-duty test and deciding whether an employee returns to safety-sensitive duties.
